According to Undang-Undang Nomor 18 Tahun 2012 about Sistem Nasional Penelitian, Pengembangan dan Penerapan Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi, innovation is a research, development, and / or engineering activity aimed at developing practical application of new values and context of science, or a new way to apply existing science and technology into products or production processes.
Jendela Inovasi Daerah is a means of publication of innovation with the scope:
1. innovation of local governance;
2. innovation of public services;
3. other regional innovations in accordance with government affairs which are the regional authorities;
4. excellent products;
5. technological innovation;
6. industrial innovation;
7. system of innovation;
8. new research.
